Iceland from Above is a stunning collection of photographs that captures the beauty of Iceland from an aerial view. Created by photographer Lukas Gawenda, the unique compositions take viewers on a journey throughout the country from high above the waterfalls, rivers, mountaintops, and shorelines.
Through his camera lens, Gawenda transforms the many dazzling features of Iceland into abstract compositions. Vibrant colors, swirling lines, and odd shapes merge together into interesting patterns and arrangements that capture the essence of the land and water formations from a rare perspective.
“With my photographs, I want to not only show the beauty of nature, but at the same time to draw attention to its vulnerability,” explains Gawenda. “I hope to contribute to the fact that these wonders of nature are, in their proper manner, appreciated, protected, and preserved.”
