Photographer Captures the Diverse Wild Beauty of the Oregon Landscape

The United States is host to many different climates and terrains, but they are typically spread throughout the country. Oregon, however, defies this convention with its diversity. The geography is split into eight distinct regions, and it boasts volcanoes, large bodies of water (including the deepest lake in the US), dense forests, as well as high deserts and “semi-arid shrublands.” Photographer Ludwig Favre showcases some of these breathtaking sights in his series of landscape Oregon photography.

Favre traveled around the state to capture the various terrains in stark, desolate beauty. In these places, he highlights their incredible natural features, such as Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach. The mass rises 235 feet from the edge of the shoreline and is one of Oregon’s most recognizable landmarks. Favre eventually left the coast and snapped photos of Mt. Hood, the state’s tallest mountain that peaks at 11,250 feet, while also venturing to the city of Hillsboro to capture an aerial shot of an airplane parked among evergreen trees.

Viewed as a whole, Favre will make any non-Oregon resident want to visit—or those that live in the state to explore their home a bit more. His gorgeous images not only induce wanderlust, but they also showcase (just some of) what the state has to offer.
