Colorful Photos Capture the Beautifully Diverse Floor Patterns of London

While traveling, sometimes there’s so much to take in that it’s easy to miss the beautiful details of the world around us or, in this case, under us. Thanks to photographer Sebastian Erras and his ongoing collaborative photo series with Pixartprinting, we get another chance to stop and take a look down at the art just below our traveling feet. From Venice and Paris, to Barcelona and now London, Erras is sharing the intricate mosaic designs that color the stomping grounds of some of the world’s most expansive and diverse cityscapes.

Ever-evolving, London is a beast of a city with a huge variety of design and a magnificent array of architectural details that stem from its constant regeneration. Crossing from one street to the next, every feature can change, and Erras captures some of this dynamism within his portraiture. Strolling through the sweeping streets, fine hotels, and restaurants, the German photographer records the kaleidoscopic traditional mosaics, elaborate tiles, and ridiculously diverse interior decorations that he comes across.

Celebrating an unusual (and perhaps often neglected) art form, Erras draws an end to his themed photo series with this jaunt through the British capital. From his final exploration, he concludes that “the spirit of London’s floors is that of a heterogeneous city, tied to its traditions but continuously reinventing itself,” and moves on to a new photographic perspective for the future.
