Lamborghini’s Exotic New Aventador J Roadster

As we just showcased Ferrari’s most powerful high-performance road car ever produced, the F12 Berlinetta, it’s only fair to rival Italian car maker Lamborghini that we feature their latest supercar – the Aventador J roadster.

Currently being exhibited at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Aventador J went from design sketch to reality in just a few short months. Designer Filippo Perini told Top Gear that he created his first sketch in mid-January after CEO Stephan Winkelmann asked his crew to to come up with something special for Geneva.

The Lamborghini Aventador J is powered by the same 700-hp, 6.5-liter, V-12 engine found in last year’s Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 coupe, however, the two models share only a handful of body components. One unique addition is the use of a new carbon fiber fabric called “Carbonskin” that is soft enough to be used on the seats and interior trim.

With no roof and no windshield, and with speed as its primary focus, the cabin is not equipped with a radio or climate control system to ensure that passengers get the most out of the Aventador J, as it reaches speeds as high as 186 miles per hour.

At the moment, it is also the world’s most exclusive new Lamborghini. The model shown here was the only one built and was sold to a private collector for $2.75 million. When the auto show concludes, the car will be shipped to the lucky collector.
