Breakdancer Balances on One Hand at Famous Paris Landmarks

Hip-hop dancer Kapstand gives us a tour of Paris while “freezing,” or balancing on one hand. The b-boy technique involves stopping the body while in motion and then balancing very still. He started the project just seven months ago when he moved from north-east France to Paris. Upon his arrival, he wanted to visit all the famous landmarks of Paris and show them through photos on Instagram. Inspired by other photographers like Murad Osmann who shoots his girlfriend’s back while traveling around the world, Kapstand decided to use his years of training as a breakdancer to create a signature series that was all his own.

Kaptstand is never shot from the front because he wants to remain anonymous. He feels as though this adds a sense of mystery and intrigue. While most of his photos are shot around Paris, his goal is to take these one hand handstand photos all around the world. Nokia recently assembled a team of talented Instagram photographers and gave them a Lumia 1020 each to shoot in Oberkochen, Germany. They visited the Carl Zeiss factory where the Lumia 1020 lenses was made. Called Nokia Connects, the program included Kapstand.
