Sculpture of Two Hands Incredibly Reflected Through Anamorphism

Maternal Hands is an anamorphic sculpture by Johannesburg-born, London-based artist Jonty Hurwitz that features a distorted figure whose reflection in a central cylinder reveals a metallic pair of hands. With two pieces swirling around the pole, rising from the center of the base, one is clearly an outstretched hand while the other is a less distinguishable figure.

As part of his Anamorphism series, the abstract form is a warped version of its reflection. It is both a work of art and an optical illusion that offers a deceptively new perspective on the visual configuration. The two hands, though greatly contrasting in physical shape and size, are both seemingly ordinary and nearly identical in their reflections on the curving cylinder.
