Walking to the Sky is a gravity-defying stainless steel and resin sculpture by artist Jonathan Borofsky. The public art piece, which is essentially open to interpretation, features 10 life-size figurative sculptures walking up a 30-meter-tall pole, breaking the boundaries of physics as we know it. The sculptor describes the installation as “a symbol for our collective search for wisdom and awakened consciousness.”
The sculptural piece has been permanently installed in various locales over the years, including Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Seoul, Korea. It provides an intriguing spectacle for each landscape it inhabits, drawing the attention of passersby. The imaginative installation is even equipped with its own set of onlookers at the base of the towering structure, presenting spot-on imitations of real-life viewers gazing upward to the sky as the figures make their way to an indefinite destination.
