Flying is an ongoing series by New York-based photographer Jeffrey Milstein that presents a spectacular aerial view of airports. Like his other collection of images titled Aircraft: The Jet as Art, Milstein follows an aviation theme; though, instead of featuring the underbelly of solitary aircrafts, this series presents an overhead shot of the busy and populated runways and terminals where air travel both begins and ends.
As Milstein explains, this series displays “the patterns, layering and complexity of cities, and the circulation patterns for travel, such as waterways, roads, and airports that grow organically over time much like a living organism.” The interweaving roads and geometric presentation viewed in the collection is a unique sight to be seen from a bird’s-eye view. While exhilarating to be moving in midair, the images exhibit the beautiful downtime and landing marks for airplanes.
Flying is currently on display in New York at the AIPAD Photography Show through April 7, 2013.
