Spanish artist Jaume Plensa continues to intrigue viewers with his figurative sculptures. This time, it’s the suspended structures from his Lilliput II series that draws the spectator’s attention and leaves one to wonder what the significance is behind the painted bronze and steel sculptures dangling from up above.
Known for his large, fragmented figures, Plensa’s sculptures are incomplete humans bordering the fine line that separates them from purely inanimate and abstract objects. The artist has, once again, composed his figures with the inclusion of letters and symbols. In this case, the typographic components are extensions of the figurative sculptures that add a surreal and interpretive element to the piece.
