Illuminated Light Bulb Garden

Have you ever seen a garden of light bulbs? UK-based artist Bruce Munro’s latest large-scale light installment entitled Field of Light envelopes us in its magical meadow that is comprised of over 5,000 light bulbs. Each of the illuminated orbs are threaded with fibre optic cables and stand atop an acrylic stem, all of which is enlivened by a color projector. These festive lights were initially inspired by Munro’s visit to Australia where he was bewitched by how the barren dessert burst into bloom after rainfall.

Despite it being an installation for the holidays, we are not overwhelmed with the usual red and green hues. Instead, there’s a sea of blues, purples, and yellows to complement the traditional colors. I love the color palette and wish I could see it first-hand. If you’re in England, Field of Light is open to the public daily 4-7pm at Holburne Museum in Bath until January 7, 2012.
