Artistic Duo Offers Social Commentary By Combining Raw Emotion with Pop Culture

The German street art duo HERAKUT–an artistic collaboration between Jasmin Siddiqui and Falk Lehmann–are known for their striking paintings that fuse raw emotion, pop culture, and text to create compelling multifaceted narratives. They’ve recently produced over 20 new works, in addition to a mural, for their latest exhibition called Masters Of Wrong at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles.

HERAKUT’s works offer social commentary and “draw attention towards problematic social issues, personal ones or those of global scale.” While this could seem bleak, the duo’s beliefs are rooted in optimism, with the attitude, “for as long as we can see the problems in front of us, we stand at a good enough distance to still fix it.” Their paintings always include short phrases that share their thoughts and questions with the viewer, inviting us to contemplate these issues alongside them.

Masters Of Wrong opens this weekend on March 26 and will remain on display through April 20. Their mural is in partnership with the art program at Culver City High School and located on campus.
