While many would have only heard tales of human giants from folklore, Toronto-based photographer and Photoshop artist Mani visualizes a world where gargantuan animals roam the land. His growing portfolio of surreal photography sees wild animals and domestic pets as monstrous beasts that prowl freely through city streets and dreamlike landscapes.
Mani’s photo manipulations often place the giant creatures next to human explorers who are dwarfed by the animal’s huge size. In one image, the artist turns a domestic cat into the size of a lofty dinosaur, while in another, a Godzilla-like penguin towers over a cityscape at night. And for those with a fear of snakes, beware: a third image shows a gigantic serpent slithering through inner city streets.
Luckily, in most cases the giants aren’t threatening—instead, they’re protective and peaceful towards their tiny co-inhabitants. The series evokes the sense that Mother Nature is greater than any of us, and the magnificent creatures we share a planet with should be respected.
