Artist Gemma Arnal Jeric (of LaliBlue) crafts jewelry for those who want to retain a sense of childlike wonder. Using classic fairy tales as inspiration, the designer lets her imagination run wild as she aims to create a piece depicting a world of magic and mystery. The Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and Charles Perrault are three storytellers who have influenced Jeric’s fantastical creations, helping her capture the stories that delighted our childhood selves.
Once she has her heart set on a certain tale, the artist works with wood, cast metal, and resin to produce a handmade necklace or brooch featuring classic characters. Bambi, Little Red Riding Hood, the Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and Pinocchio are just a few of the familiar faces in her work.
While the fairy tales are a significant part of her process, Jeric also aspires to give all her jewelry a vintage touch. This makes wearers feel as though they’ve gotten their hands on a one-of-a-kind piece that’s filled to the brim with an otherworldly history.
