Whether it’s posing in front of a tornado or soaring over New Zealand in a helicopter, wedding photography has continued to become even bolder and more spectacular. Calgary, Alberta-based photographer Gabe McClintock adds to the recent trend of unique wedding photos with his images of Sarah and Josh, a couple who eloped to the lovely country of Iceland to celebrate their nuptials.
While the couple originally planned to have a simple wedding with their family and friends in Ohio, they ultimately made the decision to elope to a faraway, remote location filled with natural wonders. The bride explains, “Our marriage was for us, and no one else. Yes, our friends are incredible and have played important parts in our lives…but ultimately the wedding was ours to have and hold in our hearts. We decided that if we were going to be spending money on a wedding, we wanted to spend it on a memory for us.”
Luckily, Sarah and Josh brought along their wedding photographer, McClintock, who was able to capture stunning photos of the bride and groom amidst the majestic, rugged beauty of Iceland. Surrounded by roaring waterfalls, grand mountains, rocky landscapes, and lush plains, the couple’s special day and love for each other was documented perfectly in the gorgeous photos, successfully immortalizing a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
UPDATE: We’re delighted to announce that Gabe’s photos of the romantic couple are one of 25 photo stories featured in our new book For Love, published by Chronicle Books! The official release date is March 15, 2016, and the book is currently available to pre-order at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Indie Bound.
