San Francisco based artist Casey O’Connell has a way of stirring an emotion in me like no other. Drawing from her own personal experiences, O’Connnell’s art is filled with emotion and passion that you can just feel underneath your skin. The first kiss, the warm embrace…it’s the moments we live for.
I love how she describes herself on her website. “The paintings she creates are often autobiographical dialogues that capture both her inner 12 year old and a woman who should know better. She paints what she lives and what she feels. flowing lines and familiar faces are tweaked to curious forms, punctuated by inside jokes and intentional imperfections. Layer upon layer of paint and playful scrawling thoughts linger beneath the finished surface, leaving the response abstract, difficult to explain because it has to be felt. No one could falsify the energy her paintings display. She has the power to change the way people see themselves.”

I’d love to start an art collection and I think Casey O’Connell’s work might just be my first piece.
