Chicago-based artist Erin LaRocque (of BuildWithWood) refers to herself as a “nature jeweler” who’s inspired by Michigan’s Hiawatha National Forest. Using foraged materials from this ecological location, the designer encapsulates her found, natural treasures in resin and laser-cut wood frames, before polishing the pieces to give them a brilliant shine. Lush plants, moss, lichen, and beautifully textured seeds are just a few of the often overlooked specimens that are included in LaRocque’s jewelry.
Since the artist creates everything by hand, each delicate pendant ends up being a unique, one-of-a-kind work of art, ready to be shipped to an enthusiastic, Mother Nature-loving customer. To see what natural specimens are currently available, you can check out LaRocque’s earthy Etsy shop.
