Russian artist Elena Moart combines her love of interior design with textile art in her home-inspired embroidery designs. Her detailed works feature charming settings complete with vintage furniture, patterned wallpaper, house plants, and even miniature artworks hung from the walls. Each piece is full of texture and tonal details, creating homey scenes that look almost real enough to step inside the embroidery hoop and live inside the artist’s textile world.
Handmade from colorful woolen threads stitched onto cotton, Moart’s living rooms and bedrooms begin as original illustrations. Old leather chairs, tufted carpets, and throw cushions are rendered with a variety of textural embroidery stitches—a skill that Moart taught herself. The artist reveals, “Since childhood, I’ve loved creating something with my own hands…I love trying something new, so I fell for embroidery and became self-trained in this craft.”
Moart is currently selling many of her designs as DIY embroidery kits on Etsy. No matter your skill level, you’ll have everything you need to start stitching your own interior design-inspired embroidery. And what better subject to begin with? After all, “There’s no place like home.”
