Incredibly Realistic 3D Illustrations Look Like Paper Art

Estonia-based graphic designer and illustrator Eiko Ojala uses the art of paper cutting as the inspiration for these clever digital drawings. At first glance, the compositions look like layers of colorful paper perfectly placed together. However, in reality, the artist hand draws everything and then works digitally to compose the final illustrations.

Ojala relies heavily on the forms of shapes as well as light and shadow to produce his digital creations, and his strong technical skills result in amazing work that viewers will want to reach out and touch. He approaches each whimsical little story with a minimalist style, blending together bold colors and the illusion of texture within each piece. The playful narratives here are a collection of editorial illustrations that the artist produced for publications including New York Observer, Ebony Magazine, New York Times, and Scientific America.
