Lyon-based photography platform Dronestagram compiles and presents mesmerizing aerial photographs taken around the world. Captured by drones, the stunning shots enable viewers to see both familiar and faraway sites from new, sky-high perspectives.
Ranging from beautiful landscapes and city skylines to well-known monuments and popular tourist destinations, the collection of aerial photos is as diverse as the locations they represent. Similarly, the works showcased on the platform’s Instagram page span professional, published photographs and user-submitted images, ensuring an eclectic variety of artistic methods and tastes in subject matter.
Now, Dronestagram has teamed up with esteemed photography editor Ayperi Karabuda Ecer to turn the innovative social media project into a beautiful book. Dronescapes: The New Aerial Photography from Dronestagram features a carefully curated selection of striking shots “showcasing the beauty and wonder of the planet as captured by drone-borne cameras.” You can pick up your own copy of Dronescapes on Amazon.
In addition to publishing Dronescapes, the Dronestagram team has also been busy organizing the 2017 International Drone Photography Contest. Supported by National Geographic, the annual contest is organized into 3 categories: “Nature,” “People,” and “Urban.” If you’d like to submit your own out-of-this-world photograph, simply follow these steps by June 30. Last year, we were struck by the awe-inspiring selection of images, and we can’t wait to see the winners this time around!
