Simple DIY Transforms Any Smartphone into a 3D Hologram Projector

If you have an old CD case, a smartphone, and a little time, you can make a 3D hologram projector. YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss demonstrates just how this is done in a short tutorial, and it’s as easy as building a simple, four-sided bowl and placing it on top of your phone. With the right video, a tiny moving image will pop-up in mid air for a mesmerizing effect.

The 2-minute-long presentation provides clear instructions on how to create your own projector. If you wanted to try it, the required materials are things you probably have around your home, including tape, scissors, a pen, X-Acto knife, and a plastic CD case. From there, you would carefully cut and tape the parts together, then load a video on your phone (Mrwhosetheboss has suggestions), and voila! A tiny hologram you can hold in the palm of your hand.
