Many creatives like to imagine what it’d be like if there were Disney characters in real life. From fashion-forward portraits to harsh realities, these types of series are always a thought-provoking take on the iconic personalities. Digital artist Gregory Masouras continues this trend, but he has his own twist on Disney princesses in real life. Through his ongoing series called Animation In Reality, the Photoshop master blends the likes of Jasmine, Belle, and Snow White onto celebrities’ bodies and contemporary magazine covers.
The fusion between animation and photography is flawless; Masouras does such an impressive job of combining the two figures that their mashups feel seamless. On a cover of InStyle, for instance, the former First Lady Michelle Obama has her stunning style paired with Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. Despite one being a photo and the other a cartoon, Masouras has made the mashup oddly believable. In doing so, he invites us to consider how the two are related—and how they are different.
