It’s not everyday that a person has a bucket of water poured over their head but, when it does happen, it’s generally an unexpected experience. This photo series, entitled Splash, documents the hilarious responses that people and animals have during that moment of surprise. The comical project is a collaborative between Toronto-based photographers David Wile and April Maciborka.
In just the blink of an eye, the photographers capture the expressive, split-second reactions of adults, children, and even a kangaroo, as streams of water pour down from overhead. Within the compositions, the bare bodies and fur pop out against the black background and single water droplets sparkle with light as they splash and spray off of balding heads and furry ears. Although they are posed within a studio setting and somewhat aware of their soggy fate, each individual’s funny expression and awkward body language will definitely make you laugh out loud.
