LA-based photographer Dave Hill combines two things that I absolutely love: music and photography. His black and white series of popular and contemporary artists in the entertainment industry is really impressive. By “getting back to the kind of photography that got [him] started in the first place–shooting black and white film,” Hill captures the essence of various musical artists and groups in these high-contrast, super crisp 35mm and medium format images.
The commercial photographer is known more for his “epic digital composites,” cinematic scenes, and crazy Photoshop skills, but here it seems he gets back to the basics to tell each story with less hours spent on the computer. The extreme talents and skills of the passionate photographer are highly evident throughout the series, even without the touch of a Photoshop brush!
