Contemplative Angel Bursts with Color and Life

South Korean artist Minjae Lee just sent over this really impressive new piece he just finished, entitled Circulation. Just like his previous work, at first glance, it appears that the piece was made using digital editing tools. You’d probably be surpised to find out that he actually uses old-fashioned tools like markers, pens, crayons, and acrylics. You can view the making of this piece in the video below.

“I have loved color since I was 7 year old,” says Minjae. “Not many people accepted me using colors this way, including a few teachers so I’ve always drawn by myself. One day, I found markers and loved them because of the vivid colors they produce. So I always use markers now.”

“I find inspiration in human face. and abstract movement and COLOR! So, when I draw people, it’s on the spur of the moment, very spontaneous. I’m always experimenting with new materials, and ways to do things.”

What can we expect next from the artist? “I have a few things coming up,” he tells us. “A collection of 15 pieces I’m working on, a limited edition book of all my works, an exhibition in 2012 and a few product collaborations I’m in talks about. So I’m looking forward to 2012 and seeing what happens.”

We’ll definitely be watching!
