Impressively-Detailed Mural Crafted Using Only Spray Paint

Looking at this work by street artist Case Ma’Claim, it’s hard to believe that it was done using only spray paint. The large mural, located in Frankfurt, Germany, is entitled Secured Liberty, and it is striking in the amount of fine detail that’s included in the piece, like the visible veins in the subject’s foot. It’s truly impressive that the artist was able to produce such a well-crafted photorealistic piece without the aid of a paint brush.

The richly-colored composition features a seated man with a wire birdcage between his legs and poking at the birds inside. Its title could suggest a metaphor for the painting; by keeping these animals in a cage, they are within the man’s reach and can’t exercise the freedom they have to fly away.

With a piece like this, it’s not hard to understand why the German painter is widely recognized as one of the best photorealistic spray-paint artists in the world. In addition to his work, he’s also a founding member of the graffiti crew Ma’Claim, a group who is renowned for their well-rendered and realistic murals.
