Wisconsin-based artist and educator Carly Dellger of SurfaceWerks makes food you’re meant to step on—really, they’re food-shaped rugs. Coming from a family with a long history of crocheted rug-making, it’s no wonder that Dellger practices the traditional craft as well, but with her own whimsical twist on the craft.
Since 2012, Dellger has been selling whimsical crocheted rugs on Etsy. Currently, her inspiration comes from food, U.S. cartography, and nature. Her freeform technique ensures that no two fried Egg Rugs are the same, though they both will surely be sunny-side up. Dellger’s quirky rugs add a surreal quality to any home’s floor, as well as a splash of fun.
You can select her handmade designs, or request a custom rug, on SurfaceWerks’ Etsy. Scroll down to see some of Dellger’s delicious displays.
Besides food, Dellger also creates rugs of U.S. States…
And nature.
