Barcelona-based illustrator Capitoni knows that glasses can say a lot about their owner’s personality, and movie characters are no different. From Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Robocop and Top Gun‘s Maverick, the artist recreates famous movie characters known for their eyewear, proving that a pair of glasses goes beyond its function–it’s an essential element when it comes to personal style. Color, shape, and size are all factors that contribute to making a person’s glasses not only unique, but also iconic.
In addition to his character illustrations, Capitoni adds captions about the brand and model of each subject’s spectacles, forcing the viewer to ask oneself, “What do these glasses say about each character?” Ultimately, the illustrator is paying homage to films and reminding us that, when it comes to making noteworthy movies, every single detail matters.
