The deadliest and most destructive fire in California’s history erupted on November 8, 2018 and it still continues to burn. The ferocious Camp Fire has rampaged through Butte County neighborhoods, destroying everything in its path. In the town of Paradise, it’s killed more than 80 people, destroyed thousands of homes and businesses, and caused hundreds of residents to flee to safer ground. Amongst the chaos, thousands of family pets have also been displaced, causing them to fend for themselves with nowhere to go. Luckily though, there’s many who are working hard to help keep cats, dogs, and other furry friends safe.
While tirelessly battling the horrific wildfire, Captain Ryan Coleman of the Fairview Valley Fire Department was approached by a beautiful, long haired, gray cat. In a video posted by Coleman, the very friendly feline can be seen happily riding upon the smiling firefighter’s shoulders as he walks around the area. The big furry beauty can be seen affectionately rubbing against Coleman’s face, as if to say “thank you for saving me.” The lucky cat has been given the temporary name of Kitty-571 until a rightful human is found.
