Designer Transforms Wood Fragments into Brilliant, One-of-a-Kind Accessories

Inspired by Australia’s brilliant flora and fauna, Melbourne-based jeweler Britta Boeckmann fuses wood fragments with colored resin to form gorgeous wearable accessories. Each pendant, ring, and pair of earrings are hand crafted and entirely unique–Boeckmann works without a template, and instead assesses her materials to produce pieces that elevate their natural characteristics. To do this, she gently sands the jewelry into shape and then applies varnish to give them a light luster. The results highlight both the beautiful colors and grain of the wood.

Boeckmann began making accessories after graduating with a degree in industrial design. She moved from Germany to Melbourne in 2013, where she joined the Wangaratta Woodworkers studio and learned a variety of fabrication techniques. You can buy her jewelry online through BoldB, her Etsy shop.
