More Amazing Photography by 19-Year-Old Brian Oldham

We recently shared some new works from 18-year-old photographer Alex Stoddard and thought we’d do an update on another one of our favorite teen photographers, Brian Oldham. Since we last saw the California-based 19-year-old, he has continued to take some breathtaking shots, pushing himself to think outside of the box.

Oldham had told us that he greatly admired the work of Stoddard and is, in fact, now collaborating with him regularly. In his new set of images, we can even see Stoddard standing in as the model as a serene butterfly grazes his cheek. There are many shots like this in which Oldham captures beautiful moments frozen in time. Whether it’s a trio of butterflies gently escaping a jar or a young woman buried in sand caught taking a deep breath, there’s a brilliant balance of movement and stillness.

The young photographer is also no stranger to using props, organic and otherwise. He forces man-made props and nature to co-exist in order to build and enhance his surreal imagery. A ladder oddly stationed in a body of water and a solitary door placed in an open field make for interesting visuals, especially when cooperating with human interaction, and prove to be significant additions to the conceptual photographer’s intentions. Oldham plans every aspect of his images, making sure there’s meaning behind everything.
