New Photos of the Pink Tutu Project for Cancer Awareness

We first shared photographer Bob Carey’s The Tutu Project, an ongoing photo series seeking to raise funds for women with breast cancer, last year and the dedicated photographer has churned out even more self-portraits that’ll put a smile on your face. Carey initially embarked on this creative project when he and his wife Linda relocated to the East Coast. It was his humorous way of expressing how exceptionally different his life was because of the move.

It wasn’t until 6 months later when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer that Carey took the series far more seriously, or as serious as one could take a grown man in nothing but a pink tutu. His mission became one of a loving husband looking to put a smile on his wife’s face as they began a trying chapter of their lives together. The project has grown immensely over the last 9 years both on a national and personal level, as Bob shares his latest images with other patients undergoing treatments, allowing their treatment time to pass a little quicker and easier with a mix of laughter.

Bob and Linda Carey have released a book titled Ballerina that exhibits the thematic “playfulness and vulnerability” of the project’s images and all proceeds are set to go directly to The Carey Foundation, a non-profit organization established by the couple to provide support to women diagnosed with breast cancer, survivors, and their family members.

UPDATE: We’re happy to announce that Bob and Linda’s story is one of 25 photo stories featured in our new book For Love, published by Chronicle Books! The official release date is March 15, 2016, and the book is currently available to pre-order at AmazonBarnes and Noble, and Indie Bound.
