Smart Suitcase Communicates Weight, Location, and Can Lock Through App

Travelling on an airplane with your luggage can sometimes feel like a gamble. If you’re checking the bag, how much will it weigh, and will you have to pay extra for it? And, once it leaves your sight, where exactly are your belongings? Bluesmart Technologies helps take the worry out of travel with the first luggage that’s designed to harmoniously pair with your mobile device.

Aside from its striking blue spinner wheels and handle, the best features of the polycarbonate, anodized aluminum suitcase aren’t something that you can see. Launch the iOS or Android-compatible app, however, and you’ll notice that it has an array of components that communicate with your phone through Bluetooth.

Pulling up on the bag’s handle will display its total weight in app, and you can lock and unlock the suitcase (using a TSA-approved master key lock) with it as well. There’s an integrated proximity sensor that’s designed to keep track of your bag when it’s both near you and in transit; the app will send a notification if the Bluesmart leaves its predetermined radius.

A built-in battery pack charges two mobile devices at the same time, while an ingenious flap design makes your laptop and tablet easily accessible when moving through the security line. Bluesmart has slated this smart carry-on suitcase for release beginning August 2015. You can pre order yours via their Indiegogo campaign.
