In his ongoing series Tree, Line, Zander Olsen has constructed intriguing scenes where trees are wrapped in white material. These photographs were taken in Surrey, Hampshire and Wales. Olsen attempts to create a new line of horizon – one that is not made by the camera but by the stark white material on the trees.
Wrapped around, the white material lines up with either the horizon or the mountain range in the background creating a consistent look throughout the entire photograph. Because the white material creates such a perfect line, these photographs look almost unreal. While the idea is simple, the photos are mesmerizing, creating an interesting illusion I could stare at for hours.
