Best of 2020: The Most Creative Products Everyone Wanted This Year

The year 2020 might be one that everyone wants to forget. But while we all spent (and let’s face it, continue to spend) a lot of time at home, the things around us became more important than ever. From engaging activities to must-have wearables, we’re looking back on the year through creative products.

You can’t talk about 2020 without mentioning puzzles. The resurgence of this beloved activity made them a hot-ticket item during the lockdowns in early spring. Our favorites combined the tranquil—and sometimes delightfully maddening—activity with art and ingenuity. Puzzle maker eeBoo, for instance, features designs that are painted by illustrators depicting endearing scenes like animals in the Amazon rainforest. While the imagery is beautiful, we also saw that sometimes, less is more (challenging). The creative studio Yelldesign created transparent jigsaws that are cheeky and difficult to solve.

Another staple of 2020 continues to be face masks. Cloth coverings, in particular, have become a part of everyday life this year, and makers are here to ensure we look good wearing them. Everyone from independent artists on Etsy to Disney began producing their own masks, and the many choices have ensured us that we can express our mood and fashion sense while also staying safe.
