Bending Bookcase Apartment (21 pics)

Here at theMET, we’re all about creative living spaces. Hussein Jarouche’s 3,200 sq. ft. apartment in Brazil is one of the most impressive we’ve ever seen in that it combines inspired architecture with bold interior design…

Jarouche gave Triptyque Studio full creative control of the design. The studio’s goal was to obtain continuity without interfering in the richness of internal spaces. By opening up the floor plan and maximizing the space, they created a dialogue between the bookcase and the rest of the house. Rough concrete, demolition wooden floors, stainless steel and white walls make the apartment look modern, yet minimalistic and warm.

What stands out the most is the bending bookcase that wraps around the walls like a white, melting wave. It is a giant sculpture that sets the tone of the whole apartment . It’s “like walking into a cave, through the dark towards the light,” explains Triptyque Studio.
