Audrey Kawasaki’s Gorgeous New Layered Vellum Works

My Modern Met favorite Audrey Kawasaki has created three new drawings for charity. This March, Kevin Mangan (Audrey’s boyfriend) and Adam Clift are racing an auto rickshaw over 1800 miles of South East Asia for a group called The Adventurists. “This is basically like a marathon charity pledge,” she says on her blog, “but on a rickshaw through jungle, island and ocean for 1800 miles! It’s pretty wild!!” All proceeds will be donated to Birdlife International and Action Against Hunger.

Along with taking regular donations, there is an art auction, which starts today, where some of our favorite artists including Audrey and Olly Moss have donated original works or prints. You can find more information about it on the Jakarta or Bust website and on their Facebook page.

Of course, some of the most coveted items will be Audrey’s three new original drawings made of graphite and ink on hand-cut vellum. Notice the layers. “This is the first time [I’m] working on vellum and in two layers,” she wrote. “I had so much fun with these, and hope to explore more like this.” Just beautiful!
