The giant fluorescent snails are back! The last time we saw them they were invading the Duomo cathedral in Italy and now they’ve (slowly) made their way to Sydney! As part of Art & About Sydney, the city’s annual celebration of public art and exhibitions in public spaces, artistic collective Cracking Art Group has released 24 snails out into Sydney’s parks and streets! The mammoth-sized molluscs are made entirely out of recyclable materials and serve as a subtle reminder of the importance of environmental awareness.
This bright installation that’s turning heads is called Snailovation. Here you’ll find some photos taken by Sydney Instagrammers as they’re spotted the snails on their streets. The brightly hued snails will stay in Sydney until October 20. You can find the locations of each of them on the map, below. If you’re in Sydney, catch them before they’re gone!
