New Mixed-Media Paintings by Andy Kehoe and Redd Walitzki

Artists Andy Kehoe and Redd Walitzki recently opened side-by-side solo shows of their new paintings at the Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle, Washington.

Andy Kehoe’s newest mixed-media paintings, a series entitled Inner Mystic, will take viewers on a dark, yet whimsical adventure filled with dramatic color palettes, small figures, and dreamlike elements. In his signature style, Kehoe uses wispy brush strokes to blend oils, acrylics, and resin into his mysterious realities. Throughout the intriguing compositions, the artist invites his viewers to create their own narratives about the work. He explains: “I love creating a world steeped in mystery and mysticism, and it’s really up the the viewer to give any power or resonance. If there’s any magic to be found in my work, it stems from within the individual viewer and their own desire to lose themselves in imagination, if only for a moment.”

Artist Redd Walitzki’s newest work on laser cut panels explores a sensuality through soft, yet fierce, feminine forms and pastel color palettes. In the series, entitled When We Break, the forms naturally blend together and produce an appealing, blurred line between figure and swirling background. According to her bio, Walitzki’s “technicolor muses enact a dreamily erotic exploration of both the lure of fleeting modern day high fashion glamour as well as the original meaning of the term glamour, which in ancient times referred to illusory shapeshifting used by supernatural beings to perilously enchant hapless humans.”

Both Kehoe and Walitzki’s work are currently on display and will be available for viewing through June 28, 2014.
