Photographer and videographer Andrew Studer has a passion for the great outdoors, which he explores through his stunning landscape and travel photography. Having grown up in Oregon, where he’s still based, Studer was surrounded by incredible views of nature. This has translated into a successful career as a commercial photographer and videographer.
Studer spends his time traveling, capturing the natural world in all its glory. His voyages have taken him from Mount Hood in his own backyard to across the ocean—to Iceland and the Dolomites. “I hope that when people view my work, they take away a strong sense of admiration for the beautiful world we live in,” Studer tells My Modern Met. “There are so many dramatic landscapes, incredible wildlife, and stunning natural phenomena that occur that constantly inspire me and drive me to create.”
Studer doesn’t limit his creativity to just one type of landscape photography. From beautiful night images and astrophotography to aerial photographs taken from helicopters, he’s willing to go the extra mile to get the shot he’s after. It’s no wonder that his perseverance made him responsible for some of the most viral photographs of the 2017 solar eclipse.
Whether capturing a double rainbow with lava flow in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park or demonstrating the majesty of the Himalayas, Studer is able to bring his own perspective to each landscape. His work—and his willingness to share—has earned him a large following on Instagram, where he currently has nearly 150,000 followers. He also brings viewers inside his trips through Visual Voyage, a video collaboration with filmmaker and photographer Michael Shainblum.
If you are looking to bring a piece of Studer’s work into your home, he sells prints of his photographs via his SmugMug.
