Quick, thick brushstrokes and bold colors make up these impressive figurative paintings by London-based painter Andrew Salgado. Focusing more on the broad concept than on the precise details, Salgado produces emotional portraits that convey feelings of sadness.
In his work, he explores color and form set against solid backgrounds to produce a sense of the abstract. He is interested in telling a visual story with his art that is filled with suggestive meanings and metaphors rather than a literal representation of a person.
“Through my treatment of form and content, I ask the viewer to consider the technical aspects of my paintings, but also the metaphorical role that media assumes in my work, and finally the relationship of my paintings to a greater narrative and mythology,” explains Salgado.
