Tim Walker is far and away one of my very favorite fashion photographers. I love getting whisked away into some beautiful place with him. I just found this great interview that he did with SHOW studio about how he first got started, where he finds his inspiration and what motivates him, personally.
My two favorite parts come toward the end. At around 10:58 he starts talking about only photographing what you love and to only be true to that. This can be applied to so many areas in a person’s life.
What does Walker get out of photography? He says “there’s no better feeling in the world, for me, than getting a good photograph. When everything comes together and you look through the viewfinder and there’s a window to something magical. You haven’t seen it before…you see something you haven’t yet caught…it’s such a thrill…”
After watching this interview, I can’t help but admire Walker even more. Aside from inspiring me to pick up my own camera and start snapping away, this interview made me feel more connected to him and his work. In a little over :15 minutes he stirred up an emotion in me. He was gracious enough to share his story so that he could inspire others to one day do the same. And isn’t that what life is all about..in the end?
