Come a bit closer. Without reading our title, can you guess what these animal sculptures are made of? Artist Sergey Bobkov, 54, made the above life-sized owl chick from cutting chips from the Siberian cedar for an exhibition of his works in a local school at Kozhany, southwest of Krasnoyarsk, on September 5, 2011. Bobkov, who received a patent on manufacturing art sculptures made of cutting chips, has made a total of 15 life-size wooden sculptures of Siberian birds and animals.
The artist is known to study an animal’s anatomy and habits before creating these one-of-a-kind sculptures. He’s skillfully able to turn useless wood chips into everything from birds with feathers to squirrels and sables with fur!
