Madrid-based Spanish artist Alicia Martn first caught our eye with her incredible sculpture, titled Biografas, that looked like a haphazard parade of books flooding through the side of a building. Taking a look through her portfolio, it’s easy to see that this artist has a keen eye for configuring books in a myriad of compositions that both catch the eye and playfully transform their surroundings.
Whether her massive, sculptural installations are swirling around trees, bursting through the interior walls of a building, or simply sitting as an imposingly enormous wheel-shaped structure, there’s something to be said about Martn’s work. Each piece is worth stopping dead in your tracks to gaze at. The enormity and surreal quality of each respective installation demands the attention of anyone within its vicinity. There’s something that screams “Look at this!” about each one.
