Furniture designer Alexandre Chapelin (of LA Table) was evidently inspired by his Caribbean surroundings when he carved his three Lagoon Tables. Although they’re primarily made out of travertine marble, a special resin was assimilated into this oceanic trio to mimic the waves that can be spotted atop a body of water. The vibrant blue resin was notably added in layers that perfectly represent the depth and gradient of the ocean. Peering down at the table, reveals the oceanic visual properties of the resin as it grows darker toward the bottom–which adds to this piece’s intriguing, yet relaxing nature.
LA Table aims to “take a simple piece of furniture and creatively transform it into a unique artistic statement that is a true reflection of its owner,” making it clear that Chapelin has designed these tables with an ocean lover’s perspective in mind.
