A Man and His Bear

This dude has officially fulfilled my childhood dream by having his very own grizzly bear! Towering 6 inches taller than Shaq with a bite force strong enough to crush a bowling ball and the ability to kill a human with a single paw is the 800-pound grizzly named Brutus. His best friend? Renowned naturalist Casey Anderson who has raised him from birth.

Driven by compassion, the pair takes a a yearlong odyssey to shed light on Yellowstone’s “island” population of about 600 grizzlies, hemmed in on all sides by roads and human settlement. Anderson lives among them in extreme conditions, observing their behaviors and even tasting some of their favorite foods.

“From my very first encounter, I’ve been fascinated by this amazing animal. The more I learned, the more I wanted to share their story, and the story of these particular bears – Yellowstone grizzlies – is a little known chapter in U.S. history.” -Casey Anderson.

You can catch more of this dynamic duo on National Geographic Channel’s “Expedition Grizzly which will premiere on Sunday, May 3rd at 9pm.
