Artist Christy Lee Rogers has been busy. In October, she concluded her exhibition Aqueous Renaissance at ART LABOR Gallery in Shanghai. Now, she’s coming to the UK for an immersive multimedia event titled Myths and Legends. It’s happening for just five days, from November 29 to December 3, 2025, at W1 Curates in London. But for its brevity, it promises to be a spectacular showing that includes a transformation of the W1 facade.

W1 Curates is on Oxford Street, one of the busiest blocks in London. During Rogers’ run, her underwater photographs will be projected across 300 LED screens on the outside of the building; her luminous figurative work is sure to transform the surrounding area into a sea of mesmerizing color and movement.

Once inside, visitors will get a more intimate look at Rogers’ photographs that could be mistaken for Baroque paintings. The monumental images feature an array of billowing and swirling colors, as figures—heroes, lovers, and seekers—battle separately, fighting the water and fabric forms. But through distortion and reflection, everything appears as one dramatic form. Our eye must carefully travel through the photographs to fully appreciate the narrative Rogers has created, one ripe with intricate details.

Utilizing light in a way reminiscent of Caravaggio, Rogers’ aesthetic connects the past and the present, highlighting the qualities of both. Photographs like Rogers’ couldn’t have existed during the 17th and 18th centuries, yet they recall a period long ago. Connecting these two worlds is at the heart of Myths and Legends.

“The world today feels so chaotic that I wanted to step back—to look from the outside and see how these same struggles, stories of hardship, war, heroism, and tragic love have existed since the beginning of time. In doing so, I found comfort and a deeper perspective on humanity,” Rogers shares. “Perhaps we have always sought the drama and the chaos, needing something to fight for, something to believe in—a way to find meaning in it all.”

Myths and Legends is presented by Studio 74 Contemporary Art. Admission is free and open to the public from November 29 to December 3, 2025, at W1 Curates.
