Stone and Acrylic Glass Furniture Brings the Beauty of Nature Indoors

Furniture Collection DelMare Eduard Locota

Designer Eduard Locota has just released a preview of his new 2017 DelMare collection. Building off the success of his marble and acrylic glass table, DelMare, the Romanian designer has created a collection of sculptural furniture that pays homage to the sea.

“Inspired by my love and my respect for nature, my purpose is to create vibrant functional artwork that can achieve harmony between a modern space and the natural space,” the artist shares with us. The inspiration is clear across the benches, tables, and chairs that form the collection. By pairing stone, resin, and acrylic, he achieves a clean contemporary look that is at once modern, yet rustic.

Some pieces, like the La Falaise bench, take direct inspiration from the environment. A fusion of Jemsonite and acrylic glass, the vibrant green seat flows down in the rustic stone, mimicking the cliffs of Étretat in northern France. Weighing over 200 kg (440 lbs), La Falaise—the French word for cliff—is a functional and striking work of art.

In other cases, like the Crete table, Locota takes cues from architecture. Over 100 layers of acrylic were poured to achieve the end result, which was inspired by the monumental arches found in cathedral architecture. A fully dimensional piece of art, the table changes form from different viewpoints, giving endless hours of enjoyment. As water flows into land and back again, Locota captures the energy of infinite movement in his contemporary furniture.

All pieces from the DelMare collection are available for purchase via Locota’s website.

Eduard Locota’s DelMare collection is contemporary furniture inspired by nature.
