The 89th annual Academy Awards took place last night, and it was definitely one to remember. For those who tuned in, the biggest, most memorable moment of the Oscars 2017 happened in the last 15 minutes when La La Land was mistakenly awarded “Best Picture of the Year”—an award meant for the critically acclaimed Moonlight. This awkward gaffe caused quite a stir (and a lot of confusion); but, luckily, the error was amended before the program ended. And, it didn’t keep Hollywood’s elite from spending the rest of the night celebrating the past year of filmmaking!
Once again, Vanity Fair teamed up with photographer Mark Seliger to capture the elegant and refined style of the star-studded event’s attendees. The coveted Vanity Fair Oscar Party welcomed a long list of guests, ranging from TV/film actors and directors to designers and musicians—including Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Mahershala Ali, Kerry Washington, Katy Perry, Jon Hamm, Tom Ford, and many more.
Seliger invited the dazzling stars into the Vanity Fair Oscar Portrait Studio for an intimate photo shoot. Each stunning portrait captures the dramatic, sultry, and (in the case of James Corden) comedic side of the faces that grace the silver screen and stages around the world. The portraits remind film enthusiasts and award show watchers that this year’s Oscars may have had an unfortunate blunder, but it remains a classy event filled with glamour.
As an added bonus, here’s a time-lapse of the set being prepared for the Vanity Fair Oscar Portrait Studio:
