Last year, we became enamored with the Mini Museum, a portable collection of curiosities from Earth and beyond. Created by Hans Fex, this hand-held selection of artifacts showcased mammoth hair, the Berlin Wall, the Apollo 11 Command Module, and even a dinosaur egg. Now, Fex is back with the second installment of his incredible Mini Museum and has assembled a variety of 26 tiny specimens for us to marvel at.
Like the first Mini Museum, the second edition has artifacts artfully arranged, labeled, and encased in Lucite acrylic. They highlight achievements on Earth and the wonders of the universe: an asteroid belt, a neanderthal hand axe, petrified lightning, and the first supercomputer are all on display. In addition, the Mini Museum 2 comes with a companion guide that shares the stories behind each specimen, creating context as well as fun history lessons. As it sits on your desk or your shelf, you’ll continually be reminded that the Universe is an amazing place.
The Mini Museum 2 is available to pre-order via a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign–it was funded in just one day and has raised nearly a million dollars (that’s over 6 times its initial goal) with over two weeks left.
