Using things like balloons, lollipops, and eyeglasses, Valerie Susik brings charming dog illustrations to life. The Russian artist first renders realistic portraits of smiling canines in her wire-bound sketchbook with watercolor paint and colored pencils. Once that’s complete, she poses different objects with the dogs and snaps a photo. The result is Interactive Illustrations, and they’re a fantastic mix of well-crafted artwork and the real world.
Thanks to clever positioning, Susik is able to create a convincing illusion that these canines are doing things like grabbing a tennis ball, eating from chopsticks, and having their hair blowdried. They have expressive looks on their faces and heads angled so that it really seems like they’re looking directly at the human (or object) in the photo.
